Small Business Spotlight: Flour. Sugar. Eggs.
We are excited to announce that each month, we will feature a local business on our blog to introduce you folks to the people and stories behind the little joints that we love. And we are proud to feature our Germantown neighbors: Flour. Sugar. Eggs., as the first.

Flour. Sugar. Eggs. is a mom ‘n pop bakery and deli tucked away in Germantown on Fifth Avenue North. What first started with just a few wholesale clients has turned into one of the most popular lunch spot and sweet tooth stops in Nashville. It is the only shop in town that makes handmade croissants, which Gina Olds claims, to have really kicked off the business.

Gina Olds is the proud owner of this sweet shop. She always wanted to own a bakery, but had her hands full carrying a job and being a mother. But when the timing was right, the journey of Flour. Sugar. Eggs. began.

Gina started baking out of her home, but her wholesale cliental grew and grew until she needed a space designated solely to her pastry making. So she stumbled upon this little suite in Germantown and set up shop. What began as just wholesale cliental, began to expand as word of the savory sweet shop spread and brought in a great deal of retail clients. Partnerships with other businesses in Nashville soon formed between Flour. Sugar. Eggs. and many local coffee shops such as Ugly Mugs and Woodbine Coffee Co.  Gina wanted to expand her seating and horizon, and once the shop next store was open to lease, she signed away.  Gina named the new shop to the left of her bakery Eat. Drink. Art., which not only provides overflow seating to the customers, but also features a new artists’ work bimonthly. Eat. Drink. Art. hosts performance art, on every platform imaginable, as well as four-course meals for events, meetings, and the public. The success of Flour. Sugar. Eggs. is unbelievable; Gina confess she never expected what has come of the past year.

In September, Gina will celebrate one year of open shop. As for the future, Gina plans on continuing exactly what Flour. Sugar. Eggs. has been doing- staying involved in the Nashville community and sharing their love for handmade, homemade food with it’s people.
